Passend zu seinem zwanzigsten Jubiläum samt Wiederaufführungen im Kino nehmen wir uns Luc Bessons knallbunten Science-Fiction-Kultfilm The Fifth Element (1997) mit Bruce Willis und Milla Jovovich vor. Außerdem liegt das rumänische Abtreibungsdrama 4 Monate, 3 Wochen und 2 Tage (4 luni, 3 saptamâni si 2 zile, 2007) von Christian Mungiu auf dem Tisch, das alles andere als bunt ist und den vermutlich größten Streit seit Gründung der Archivtöne auslöst.
Im zweiten Teil versuchen wir uns an einem neuen Konzept: Im Filmduell treten zwei sehr ähnliche Filme gegeneinander an und werden auf ihre Vorzüge und Schwächen hin unter die Lupe genommen. In unserem ersten Duell widmen wir uns Sofia Coppolas aktuellem Film The Beguiled (dt. Die Verführten, 2017), der Namen und Buchvorlage mit dem Film The Beguiled (dt. Betrogen, 1971) von Don Siegel teilt. Obwohl die Handlung um den verwundeten Yankee in einer Mädchenschule (Colin Farrell bzw. Clint Eastwood) weitgehend übereinstimmt, unterscheiden sich die beiden Filme erheblich.
