In Satoshi Kons Anime Paprika (2006) geht es um eine junge Frau, die mit Hilfe einer geheimnisvollen Maschine menschliche Träume begehbar macht. Diesem surrealen Kunstwerk setzen wir mit Dead of Night (dt. Traum ohne Ende, 1945) einen echten Klassiker entgegen. In der Rahmenhandlung dieser frühen Horror-Anthologie ist ein Mann davon überzeugt, ein Treffen bereits in einem Albtraum vorhergesehen zu haben.
Im zweiten Teil der Sendung knöpfen wir uns ein Thema vor, das momentan in aller Munde ist: Nostalgie. Längst haben wir das Gefühl, in einer Remake- und Remix-Kultur zu leben, in der es kaum noch etwas Neues gibt. Zwischen Truffaut und Vergil diskutieren wir, ob früher wirklich alles besser war, wie wir uns an Vergangenes erinnern und warum heute in sämtlichen Filmen Kassettenrekorder auftauchen.
